High Definition Retinal Imaging The TOPCON TRC-NW400 provides incredible high definition imaging of the inside of your eye. As part of an overall medical evaluation of the health of your eye, Dr. Hoffman will review the health of your optic nerve, retina, and blood vessels. Digitized imaging aids in the early detection and management of diseases that can affect both vision and overall health. This includes glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes and hypertension. How it works This is a very simple, painless test that takes only a few minutes to complete. Just like having a regular picture taken. The digital image of the back of each eye is then uploaded onto a computer screen. Dr. Hoffman can view it instantly and discuss his findings with you. These images will be stored electronically for comparison on your next visit, allowing a more detailed view that cannot be achieved by conventional methods. With retinal imaging technology, even the most subtle changes to the structures at the back of your eyes can be detected.
Humphrey Matrix Visual Field This sophisticated, computerized instrument allows us to map the peripheral vision in each eye, which is vital in assisting in the early detection of many eye diseases such as glaucoma, optic neuritis, retinal detachments, macular degeneration, and neurological lesions that can affect your vision in ways that you may or may not notice until the conditions has become severe. If the screening exam detects any potential problems, Dr. Hoffman may require a more extensive exam to explore the levels of sensitivity in your field. This will help determine the extent of the field loss and the best course of treatment. How it works It is a painless and very simple test. The patient is instructed to put their chin on the chin rest and look through the eye piece of the machine with both eyes open. The technician will then switch from right eye to left eye, testing each eye individually. Throughout this screening, the patient will look at a central point and press a button every time a flash of light is seen. These flashes brighten and dim at different stages of the test. This machine offers the latest breakthrough in screening and threshold visual field testing, in fact visual field testing is necessary to diagnose and monitor glaucoma patients.
